Walker and her friend she talks to over email are great followers of Zora Hurston, and admire her and her work. They soon decide together that they will meet up at and find more facts about their favorite writer. Walker and Charlotte both meet up at the airport and start
their quest in finding more about Hurston. On their quest, they begin by questioning Hurston's niece. Following that clue they start to gather up information from Mrs. Moseley that knew Zora and learn where she was buried at,
and decide to buy a tombstone for Hurston's grave. They then meet up with Dr. Benton, who was close friends with Zora, just to find more
things about Zora like her real cause of death, that she was fat, and
her relationships with her neighbors.
Walker comes across
the problem of getting people to tell her about Zora Hurston. So she came p with idea to pose as Hurston's niece. The fact that know one really knew Hurston's real niece, was the only reason why she could pull off being Hurston's niece. But as
time goes on Walker begins to find her own roots. In the end she ends up thinking that she is one of
Hurston's family members, so this experience opened up Walker's eyes to Hurston and her writings, but it also showed Walker more
about herself, where she came from, and personally opened her eyes to who she is.
